Hypnotherapy for Fears and Phobias in Maitland
Feel calmer, more confident and more in control
Perhaps there’s something you avoid because even the thought of it makes you uncomfortable. Flying, spiders, needles, driving or speaking in front of others.
You may know logically that you’re safe, but that doesn’t stop the racing heart, the tension or the urge to get away. Being told to “just relax” rarely helps.
At Sandra Cleere Hypnotherapy, I offer a supportive space to work towards responding differently to the situations that frighten you, so you can feel more confident doing the things that matter to you.
Available in person in East Maitland and online across Australia.
When fear starts making your decisions
A fear doesn’t have to affect every part of your life to be worth addressing. It might mean turning down a holiday, putting off an appointment, avoiding certain roads or missing an opportunity at work.
You might find yourself:
-
Feeling anxious long before an event or appointment.
-
Planning your day around avoiding a particular situation.
-
Feeling embarrassed about a fear that others don’t understand.
-
Wanting to do something, but feeling unable to take the first step.
You don’t need to justify how you feel. We start with what’s happening for you and what you would like to change.
Hypnotherapy for fears and phobias
Our work focuses on helping you feel more settled and building a different response to the situation you fear.
Sessions may include hypnotherapy, NLP techniques and practical strategies, depending on your needs and preferences. Together, we can explore the thoughts, expectations and reactions connected with your fear and work towards a response that feels more manageable.
The aim is to give you more choice about how you respond, whether that means attending an appointment, taking a trip or feeling more comfortable in everyday life.
Everyone’s experience is different, and results and the number of sessions needed will vary.

What happens in a session?
We begin by talking about your fear, how it affects your life and what you would like to be able to do differently. You don’t need to know exactly when or why it started.
I’ll explain the approach and answer your questions before we begin. During hypnosis, you remain in control and can speak, move or stop at any time.
We work at a pace you’re comfortable with. You won’t be surprised with something you fear or pressured into a situation you haven’t agreed to.
Where appropriate, I may also share techniques you can practise between sessions.
Why work with me?
I know from my own experience that wanting to feel confident and actually feeling confident can be very different things.
My approach is warm, practical and without judgement. I bring my training in clinical hypnotherapy and NLP, alongside an understanding of how overwhelming it can feel when fear gets in the way.
Together, we’ll focus on what matters to you and the steps that can help you move forward.
Frequently asked questions
Will I lose control during hypnosis?
No. Hypnosis does not mean handing over control. You can communicate with me and choose to stop at any point.
Do I have to relive a frightening experience?
You won’t be asked to relive an experience as a requirement of working with me. We’ll discuss an approach you feel comfortable with.
Can I attend online?
Yes. Online appointments are available across Australia. You’ll need a quiet, private space and a reliable internet connection.
How many sessions will I need?
This depends on your circumstances and goals. We’ll discuss a suitable starting point and review your progress together.
